A View from the Side
I wrote this book to give anyone
(musician or aficcionado) entrance into
the world of the professional sideman.
It’s an essentially bass-centric book,
illuminating the trials, tribulations
and passions of the pro bassist, but
since it’s not technical in nature it
can be well understood by anyone
interested in a life in the arts.
In addition to some personal road
stories from my own journeys it also
has interviews and stories from some
of the world’s top practitioners of the
art of bass playing: Will Lee, Tony Levin,
Marcus Miller, Jeff Berlin, Donald
“Duck”Dunn, to name a few, plus a
special introduction by Sting.
